Hand Washing for Wool-Filled Animals – including Senger Naturwelt
What is the correct way to wash Senger Naturwelt wool stuffed animals ?
If your plush toy gets dirty, first remove rough dirt with a brush .
Since, at Senger Naturwelt, they use only the highest quality natural fibers and no polyester, please wash gently. SENGER plush toys are made from pure wool from the Eifel region, so we recommend hand washing with a mild detergent or wool detergent.
Please refrain from using a washing machine or tumble dryer, as this may cause fraying or shrinkage.
Prepare plenty of lukewarm water and gently press-wash with a small amount of wool detergent.
Do not rub, brush, or move around excessively during washing.
After washing, carefully wring out the excess water and towel dry.
The characteristic damp smell of wool will disappear once dry.
When drying, periodically turning the plush toy will speed up the drying process.
What causes colour fading after washing?
We use two techniques to dye our fabrics. Traditional dyeing is mainly used for lighter colors, while reactive dyeing is mainly used for darker colors. With reactive dyeing, the fabric is first bleached with a non-chlorine bleach before dyeing to make the color darker and more durable. Please avoid using fabric softener on fabrics dyed using either method. All dyes used do not contain lead or other harmful additives. We also do not use azo dyes as a rule. Heat treatment of the dye and fabric strengthens the adhesion of the dye to the fibers. If you notice brown discoloration after washing, especially on white stuffed animals, it may be because they were soaked in water for too long or were not wrung out properly after washing . Also, if you leave them wet for a long time, the dye may bleed from the warp threads in the colored areas and transfer to the white areas, so please be very careful. If colour transfer occurs, washing it again may improve the situation.
Stains or Dirt promptly after occurrence:
- Use a soft brush to remove surface dirt and debris
- Gently brush in direction of fabric grain
- Address stains promptly to prevent setting
- Regular brushing often eliminates need for deep cleaning
If it is a toy with an inner heat pillow – remove this before washing
Important Care Reminders – Critical Guidelines:
- Never use fabric softener or bleach
- Avoid hot water which damages natural materials
- Never machine or tumble dry – air drying only
- Allow 24-48 hours for complete drying
- Strong spinning causes irreversible damage
- Natural fiber clumping may occur even with gentle care
